  A bio of sorts

I work as an author, writer, and photographer for national magazines & online publications.

Recent Projects

I'm currently finishing up a book titled The 27s—The Greatest Myth of Rock & Roll that delves into the pop culture myth of the 27 club.

The 27s is a collaboration with Atlanta-artist Josh Hunter and the book offers a unique look at the history of rock seen through the brilliant artists who died at 27. We anticipate a U.S. publishing date medio summer 2008, but are shopping it around to select European publishing houses as well.

I spent the 2006-2007 winter skiing in Kashmir for a Black Diamond sponsored webumentary called The Line Of Control.com.

Photography

My favorite subjects to photograph are travel, backcountry skiing, and music. Visit the galleries for more.

Music

My main instruments are guitar and mandolin, but love to mess around on keyboards, bass, and trying to figure out various string instruments. Here are some tracks I've recorded over the years.

Chai was an instrumental quartet in Oslo, Norway, that consisted of Boris Iochev (drums), HC Bjørne (keyboards), Einar Bergem (fretless bass), and Eric Segalstad (electric guitar & mandolin). All tracks recorded live in the studio over two sessions in 2003.

The most recent recording is a soundtrack I made for The 27s trailer. You'll hear mandolin, guitars, midi cello, piano, bass, keyboards, drum loops, and guitar-induced white noize:
